Mezzo-soprano Katherine Keyes sang over 1,000 performances at Lincoln Center as a member of the
NY City Opera Chorus for over 20 seasons, where she also sang many small roles, as well as leads
with the NYCO Education Department. She had the pleasure of sitting next to soprano Pam Jones in
the dressing room during many seasons. In addition, Katherine has performed over 40 opera,
operetta, and oratorio roles with regional companies. Her performance of Rebecca Nurse in The
Crucible is available on Mezzo TV.
An avid recitalist, she performed with French specialist Gait Sirguey in a lecture recital examining
French poetry in musical settings, as well as multiple song and duet recitals in diverse venues. A
student lover of Scandinavian Art Song, she has programmed songs in Norwegian, Swedish, and
Finnish. She made her Broadway debut as Madame Chow in the ensemble of Baz Luhrmann's La
Boheme, and also appeared as a Choir Member in Melly Still's Coram Boy.
In addition to maintaining a private voice studio in Manhattan, she is a certified teacher of the
Alexander Technique, a discipline which re-educates the body to be used at its maximum ease and
efficiency. She has presented Master Classes in Alexander Technique for singers and for jazz
instrumentalists.
