Leonieke - Piano
(phonetically pronounced “lay-o-nee-ka")

When Dr. Lonnie Smith (one of the most famous jazz organists of all time), was shown  a clip of Leonieke playing piano he said, "you've been here before!" When told of her interest in organ, he sent her a Hammond organ as a gift. She was just 10 years old. By age 11, she would win an award from the International Women in Jazz, do an hour long feature over radio station WBGO, and be recorded by legendary engineer, Rudy Van Gelder along with Miles Davis' drummer, Jimmy Cobb.

In the years to follow, Leonieke would go on to win a second International Women in Jazz award, the New Jersey Governor's award and her most prestigious award to date, the Hot House Fan Decision Award for "Best Up and Coming Young Artist.” Leonieke also has become a guest lecturer of music, and a TEDx speaker. In July 2022, Leonieke signed an agreement with the Hammond/Suzuki company becoming a Hammond Artist!, a relationship that is bestowed upon very few.

From April to June 2025, Leonieke led her band “Leonieke & the New York Groove” representing the United States of America at the World’s Fair in Japan (Osaka EXPO 2025). In addition, she continues to be featured in numerous publications, and leads a Jazz Trio with world-renowned bassist, Bill Crow. Their group, “The 3 Generations of Jazz Trio”, was recently featured in the Neal Minor documentary entitled: “Bill Crow: Jazz Journeyman.”

Leonieke is a highly sought after artist among the finest New York Jazz musicians, and maintains an extensive performance schedule as both a sideman and bandleader.

Earl Sauls - Bass

Earl Sauls has developed an original and highly musical approach to the acoustic bass. During a career that has spanned five decades, he has played with some of the all-time jazz greats such as Stan Getz, Howard McGhee, Woody Herman, Pepper Adams, Chuck Wayne, Warren Vache and many more. Noted for his fine sound he is also featured on recordings by Joshua Breakstone, Rob Reich, Peter Prisco and many others.

Jarrett D. Walser - Drummer, Composer, Educator

What started out as an inquisitive, playful orchestration on pots and pans, at the age of three, grew into a passion. Jarrett’s first love has always been jazz. This allure commenced at the age of 11 when he began studying at NJPAC Wells Fargo Jazz for Teens program. After his studies at NJPAC, he continued to pursue his passion for music at Rutgers University, Mason Gross School of the Arts, where he received his B.A. and M.M. in Jazz Performance. Jarrett has made a career playing with various artists over a wide variety of genres from jazz, to rock to theater. Some notable artists Jarrett has performed with include Rufus Reid, Chico Freeman and Valery Ponomarev, to name a few. Jarrett currently leads the Jarrett Walser Pack, a modern jazz quartet playing his original compositions, incorporating a mixture of fusion, R & B, funk and rock. When not performing, Jarrett is an educator, sharing his love of music and inspiring the next generation of young artists.
